Who this learning path serves
This pathway is for mutual fund distributors, bank distribution teams and wealth professionals who need to explain SIF concepts and prepare for relevant certification. Training supports understanding; it does not grant distribution registration or authority to provide regulated advice.
Read a strategy before discussing returns
Identify the permitted investment universe, long and short exposures, derivative instruments and redemption terms from the current strategy documents. Ask what could cause a loss and whether the investor can tolerate that outcome. A strategy label alone does not establish suitability.
A long-short worked example
Suppose an illustrative portfolio holds ₹100 of long exposure and ₹30 of short exposure. Gross exposure is ₹130 and net exposure is ₹70. A lower net number does not eliminate basis, short-side, liquidity or leverage risk. This simplified teaching example excludes costs, margin and changes in exposures.
Build your derivatives foundation
First learn futures payoff signs, option premiums and break-even points. Then study fixed-income price–yield relationships and hedging. Use the existing original calculation lessons and practice questions to test your reasoning; avoid assuming every hedge fully offsets a portfolio loss.
Choose guided preparation or team training
The existing 10-day live V-D course covers mutual funds, equity derivatives and interest-rate derivatives. Course pricing, schedule and registration are on the live training page. Banks, AMCs and wealth firms can discuss a programme based on their team’s starting knowledge and business responsibilities.
